The Mallorca Island (Majorca) - Spain

Mallorca island
Mallorca island (or Majorca) is the largest of the Balearic Islands out of Menorca and Ibiza, also one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world. Mallorca is going to exceed all your expectations. A beautiful Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea, blessed with temperatures in the mid to high 20’s during the summer months. Its main attraction is its diverse landscapes of mountains and golden beaches coupled with great food and a fantastic Mediterranean vibe. For many years Mallorca was synonymous with mass tourism but in recent years it has become a quality destination offering a wide range of holidays, notably for villas and apartments.

Santa Ponsa Beach
Whilst some areas of the coast in the south and east have been overdeveloped with exuberant resorts, the capital, Palma still retains much of its historical flavour sporting grand mansions and a magnificent Gothic cathedral in its bustling centre. In the north of the island, nestling below the peaks of the majestic Serra de Tramuntana mountain range are the charming historic towns of Pollensa and Old Alcudia, and the family friendly resorts of Cala San Vicente with its stunning location and Puerto Pollensa, fronting its wonderful bay, sparkling waters and long sandy beach.
In the southwest of Mallorca island Santa Ponsa is a real family resort with plenty to do in all seasons. It has a white sandy beach with safe shallow water, rocks for fishing, water sports, sunbeds, sunshades and beach bars.

Mallorca Island has an ideal climate for holidaymakers with little rain and average temperatures 86ºF (30ºC) even in mid-summer. Temperatures remain nice in the spring and autumn and even in winter rarely drop below 50ºF (10ºC), though rain is more likely at this time of year. The region around Deia offers quaint villages to visit, whilst Valdermossa in the central region is a popular town with its historic churches and "old world" charm. Take a fabulous train journey from Palma on the old fashioned railway traveling through olive groves towards the Tramuntana mountains. Orange and lemon trees brush the carriage as the train winds its way towards Soller. After exploring Soller, take the electric tram from Soller to Port Soller. A great day out for all the family!

Can Picafort

Mallorca has been hailed 'The Pearl of the Mediterranean' since long before its discovery as a holiday destination. Having shed the downmarket image of the 70's and 80's, this lush island is now the chosen resort of the rich and famous including Pierce '007' Brosnan, Cristina Aguilera, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Claudia Schiffer, Michael Schumacher and Annie Lennox, to name a few. Geographically the Mallorca island is stunning. The interior is composed of quaint villages and spectacular mountains with many secluded bays untouched by the tourist trade. The beaches are beautiful, many with white sands that stretch out to clear azure seas.
If you visit in Spring you can enjoy a fantastic climate and the beauty of over 6 million almond trees in bloom. Autumn is also a popular time to visit because the busy tourist season is over yet the beautiful weather remains. Once viewed as a cheap holiday destination, Mallorca has since developed into an exclusive island with all the facilities you would expect from a classy Mediterranean holiday.

Can Picafort is situated on a seven mile long beach, in the bay of Alcudia, in the north of Mallorca island.Even though it is a bustling holiday resort with all the entertainment the holidaymaker requires ,it is also a small Spanish town with a large permenant population, of various nationalities, and maintains that essential "something"that sets it apart from the typical holiday resort. The main fiesta is in August, a week long celebration which culminates in a spectacular display of music and fireworks, the like of which is rarely seen. Can Picafort also boasts a Neolithic site along the beach in an eastward direction.Truly it has something for everyone.
